About me
My name is Laurence, and I founded Ignite Learning to help children rediscover curiosity and enjoyment in learning.
I provide personalised 11+ prep and specialist maths tuition in North London and online, supporting pupils from primary school through to university.
My approach focuses on building confidence and understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills from an early age, rather than memorisation alone.
Above all, my goal is to help pupils develop the curiosity that will allow them not just to succeed in exams, but to enjoy learning itself.

Selective Schools Entrance Exams Preparation
School is a huge part of our lives, and getting in to the right one can set your child up for long-term success, in an environment that inspires them to achieve their potential. My goal is to inspire your child to learn, and make that environment a reality by giving them the best possible chance in their selective school entrance exams.
I cover all major Grammar and Independent school entrance exams
Including 11 plus, 13 plus, and Common Entrance exams across all topics
Mathematics (my specialist subject)
Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning
English - including Spelling & Grammar (SPaG), Comprehension, Vocab, and Creative Writing

From an early age I had a passion and affinity for maths, puzzles, and problem solving. My goal is to ignite and nurture that in your child.
We are in an era where facts and information are only one ChatGPT prompt away, and our critical thinking abilities are being eroded by AI.
The future will reward those who can think for themselves, rather than those who can simply recall things they memorised.
I tutor all ages in maths, with an emphasis on building critical thinking and problem solving skills from an early age.

Ignite Learning Studio
Over the last few months, inspired by my tutoring experience, I have developed a gamified learning and revision platform from scratch for 11+ students, which is now live.
The platform has over 700 hand-authored, interactive, questions covering the entire 11+ maths syllabus including both GL and CEM papers. English, Verbal Reasoning, and non-Verbal Reasoning are coming soon.
It uses gamification to create an experience kids love, and spaced repetition to surface the right questions at the right time, to really cement what they have learned.
